Walmart’s new logo will debut this fall.
This is Walmart’s attempt at going head to head with their nemesis and king of branding, Target.
Walmart’s yellow asterisk seems weak in comparison and lacks the impact that can be created with color. They will have trouble with that color yellow disappearing. It is not strong enough to hold up to the task of carrying a visual brand. Not without support.
Maybe Walmart is trying to make a statement with the asterisk but somehow it just doesn’t come off. Environmentally friendly? Energy? Windmill? Nuclear? Happy?
